SOCIAL NETWORKS influence the adoption of EHR

Electronic health records (EHR) are the latest technological wave sweeping the healthcare industry. Software for automated management of patient records have shown amazing results in terms of time and cost savings, and the accuracy and flexibility in reducing the need for storage space, data collection and sharing information easily, both small and large hospitals.

Despite all the benefits they offer, the statistics show that only 6.9 percent of U.S. physicians currently using EHR systems. When compared to the Danish doctors, transmitting more than 90 percent of electronic clinical communication, the U.S. seems to be far behind.

However, one of the main factors that led to Denmark to be technologically advanced in the field of health appears to be triggering the U.S. too. This factor is the social network of physicians.

According to the May Journal of Computer Association of America, close personal ties play an important role to encourage the skeptics to adopt electronic health systems of records. According to a report by the Commonwealth Fund, the time saved by the first users of EHR systems has not gone unnoticed by his colleagues. In addition, they share their personal experiences in maintaining the benefits of EMR (electronic medical records) has brought, attracting aspiring physicians familiar with the technology to learn more about them. Add to that the affordability and flexibility of the latest HME systems to understand why more and more physicians opting for them because of a temptation triggered by its network.

According to the study of Management Science in August, the highest percentage of EHR adoption influential people, were relatively small health centers. Its size utters them space to innovate. In combination with their numbers, the largest hospitals feel pressure to jump on the bandwagon of technology.

Findings of an empirical study of evaluation of professional friendship, and networks revealed that perceived influence was the friendship network that significantly influence physicians to adopt EHR Software. Another study concerns the power of traditional social networks for sales and advertising encourages the adoption of electronic health record-keeping as "social contagion."

With the rapid rise of social media and the even faster increase in their influence in every field imaginable, it is hardly surprising that social networks greatly affect the health sector in adopting electronic records of health systems .
